ACADEMIC ENGLISH LANGUAGE PREPARATION COURSE

Who is it for?

The fast track language programme aims at activating and developing students’ existing knowledge of English and enhancing their confidence to deal with both the social and academic challenges they will meet in English speaking higher education institutions in the UK.

What will I study?

This course will cover all four language skills – reading, writing listening, and speaking within a business setting. The programme is divided into three parts, Higher education, Learning Strategies and Cross Cultural Communication.

Each component gives students the opportunity to practise a range of skills and build on your language foundations.

• Writing academic assignments and projects
• Listening to lectures and note taking
• Presentation skills
• Information retrieval
• Effective reading skills
• Self study techniques

The study skills component will develop students’ ability in; writing academic assignments and projects; listening to lectures and note taking; presentation skills; information retrieval; effective reading skills and self-study techniques.

How long is the course?

12 weeks (also 6 weeks intensive option).

What is the qualification?

Basic – Intermediate English levels.

What can I do next?

Students can progress to study a wide range of courses at Further or Higher Education.
