This is a course for people who deliver and manage teaching in FE Colleges and Training Institutions in UK. Like many other OCR Qualifications it has international recognition in many countries across the globe and hence suitable for both UK as well as International students.
It is a qualification that has been designed to recognize candidate’s ability to teach and support learning in a further education (post-16) context. The award develops and accredits the expanse of knowledge and skills required by teachers to deliver knowledge and undertake a high level of responsibility in managing the learning process.
Qualification Structure
Candidates can claim certificates for the OCR suite for lifelong Learning in a number of ways:
Each unit is part of the qualifications Credit Framework, which means that a candidate can carry a unit from one qualification to another, provided it is the same level.
Form of Assessment
These qualifications are centre assessed through a variety of types of assessment, including observation of teaching, assignments, reports and discussions.
Level 4 Twelve months (12 months)
Level 5 Twenty-four months (24 months)
OCR L4 CERTIFICATE IN TEACHING IN THE LIFELONG LEARNING SECTOR OCR L5 DIPLOMA IN TEACHING IN THE LIFELONG LEARNING SECTOR
1. First degree in any subject from a recognised University in UK or Overseas equivalent qualification. Applicants should be able to demonstrate both theoretical and practical competence in their chosen field of study taken at the undergraduate (first degree) level.
2. Overseas candidates that obtained their first degree in languages other than English will be required to obtain IELTS 5.0 at the time of application for the course.
3. HND qualification or its equivalent plus two years professional work experience
On completion of the Level 4 you will be able to teach in an Associate Teacher role ie. Teaching from pre prepared syllabus.
On completion of the Level 5 you will be able to teach in a Full Teacher capacity ie. Teaching from materials you have designed or evaluated, across a range of levels, subjects and learner types.
