HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE QCF LEVEL 3

Who is it for?

This course is for senior workers, working at times without supervision, in the care sector supporting adults, people with learning and physical disabilities, people in residential care homes, supported living, day care centres, domiciliary provision and Drug and Alcohol Services.

The composition of the course is flexible and units can be chosen to reflect the learner’s current or aspirational job requirements.

What will I study?

Candidates need to complete four mandatory units and a minimum of four optional units to gain the full qualification.

Mandatory Units:

The Diploma in Health & Social Care is split into many pathways with set units
Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care

There are 9 mandatory units:

  • Promote to communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  • Engage to personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  • Promote to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • The role of the health and social care worker
  • Promote person centred approaches in health and social care
  • Promote and Implement health and safety in health and social care
  • Promote good practice in handling information in health and social care settings
  • Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children's and young people's setting.

Learners are also required to take a number of optional units, depending on the number of credits; to achieve the Diploma a minimum of 58 credits must be completed:

Group A, 28 Credits – Mandatory Units
Group B, A minimum of 2 -7 Credits - Specialist Knowledge
Group C, 23  Credits – Optional Competence Units

9 -12 months

City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF)

What are the entry requirements?

Candidates with Health and Social Care NVQ/QCF Level 2 or Equivalent qualification can apply. Relevant work experience will be considered.

What can I do next?

Possible next steps include the HND route towards a degree qualification.  Alternatively learners with management duties may pursue the Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
