HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE QCF LEVEL 2 (funding available)

Who is it for?

This course is an entry level qualification suitable for students who wish to pursue a career in the area of care. QCF Level 2 is equivalent to 4 GCSE’s at grade C. There are four mandatory two optional units.

What will I study?

Mandatory Units:

  • Introduction to communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  • Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  • Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • The role of the health and social care worker
  • Implement person centred approaches in health and social care
  • Contribute to health and safety in health and social care
  • Handle information in health and social care settings
  • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children's and young people's setting.

Learners are also required to take a number of optional units, depending on the number of credits; to achieve the Diploma a minimum of 46 credits must be completed:

Group A, 24 Credits – Mandatory Units
Group B, A minimum of 2 -7 Credits - Specialist Knowledge
Group C, 15 Credits – Optional Competence Units
 

How long is the course?

6-12 months

1 full day per week plus monthly assessments & tutorials  (10am – 4pm)

1 full day in placement
 

What is the qualification?

OCR / City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF) 

What are the entry requirements?

No formal qualifications required. Relevant work experience will be considered.

DBS is required.  Interview and assessment.

What can I do next?

Learners may progress into care work or pursue further studies through the Level 3 programme.
