Our academic and administrative staff play key roles in maintaining the College’s quality standards. In light of this City-LBC ensures that high calibre of teaching and administrative staff are employed and continually developed. Among the myriad of quality assurance systems, the College undertakes tutors observations, peer reviews and sharing of good practice to live up to the high standards and requirements of all awarding and regulatory bodies as well as the expectations of our students
The College operates a comprehensive student support service providing useful information and guidance across a range of issues including, visas, accommodation, council tax, travel discounts, GP registrations, bank account facilitation and work placements amongst others.
The College provides tuition and support for courses in the areas of Health, Business, Information Technology and English Language. The college offers courses covering many subject areas. The levels of courses offered are: certificate, diploma, higher/advance diploma, NVQ Level 2, 3 & 4, Assessors, bachelors degree, post-graduate diploma, Pre-Masters and Masters degrees.
All programmes studied at the City-LBC follow the requirements of the awarding body in charge of its final certification. They also meet the requirements of the relevant British or International examination authorities and immigration authority in the case of overseas students.
The College is registered with the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) and is on its Register of Education and Training Providers at www.dcsf.gov.uk/providersregister. The Register is a list of genuine education and training providers in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The register does not quality assure or accredit in any way the learning provision of any registered provider.
To ensure that our standards are well maintained and benchmarked, City-LBC has gone through BAC accreditation process. City of London Business College is recognised as efficient by the British Accreditation Council for Further Education.
City of London Business College also deals exclusively with awarding bodies that are duly recognized by the UK NARIC - the National Agency responsible for providing information and expert opinion on UK equivalence of vocational, academic and professional skills and qualifications from overseas. Presently, we work with seven UK and Internationally recognised awarding bodies namely: Oxford Cambridge & Royal Society of Arts (OCR), Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS), Association of Business Executives (ABE), City & Guilds, Education Development Internationsl (edi) NCFE and The Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM).
The College also articulation agreements with The University of Sunderland and the University of Wales through Resource Development International (RDI).
City-LBC serves as a recognised umbrella centre for Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) application processing.
Since the inception of the college in 1990 it has built up an impressive bank of resources to aid our students and tutors alike. These provisions made by the college make studies and life in general easier and more enjoyable for our users.
Standard provisions of the College include:
• 11 classrooms of varying sizes
• 1 main conference hall (seating 200)
• Free minibus service shuttling students between our 3 sites and to and from local bus/tube/train stations.
• Students also enjoy use of our on-site kitchen and canteen areas, reading rooms and well equipped computer suites.
• Our Tutors are encouraged to vary delivery of lessons through the use of audio and visual aids such as overhead and digital projectors, TV and Video and off-site visits.
The college has 2 main computer suites for use in delivery of lessons and also for student use during free periods. The rooms are equipped with free Broadband Internet and Email access and network printing and photocopying facilities
The College has a reading room stocked with specialist books, journals, magazines and other relevant reference materials. Students can also benefit from the College’s registration with the British Library (at Kings Cross - 15 minutes travel). Our students get access to On-site reference material and use of the Interlibraryloan system.
Although not a College resource, the nearby Marcus Garvey Library, (public library provided by Haringey Council), is an excellent facility that students may wish to make use of for their studies.
